Over the past few years Oak Creek has reinvented itself! With a beautiful downtown square, fun thriving local businesses, and staple shopping spots Oak Creek is reinvigorated and on the rise.
Take A Walk Downtown – In an area that used to be a large automotive and electronics plant now resides a beautiful downtown, Drexel Town Square. Surrounded by restaurants, housing, and the new city hall and library, it’s a busy hub for this changing city. And all year round the square is full of fun events that will keep you coming back, from their weekly Farmer’s Market to special events like Dog Days.
Grab A Quality Cup Of Coffee – Just outside Oak Creek’s main square now lives Valentine Coffee’s newest café and wine bar. Offering specialty roasted coffee from their roastery in Milwaukee, this is their second café in the greater Milwaukee area. Joe and Robb, the co-founders of Valentine Coffee, also have a love for wine and have finally been able to incorporate that aspect of their business into this new spot. From building personal relationships with respectable farmers, to responsibly sourcing all the materials and ingredients that go into their drinks, Joe and Robb are doing right by this planet and their customers. So whether you’re looking for a quick caffeine fix, or a tasty meal with a nice glass of wine, Valentine Café has got you covered.
Escape From City 13 – Milwaukee’s newest escape room can be found in Oak Creek. City 13 brings you into the different scenes of a city in crisis in each of their rooms, and you are the heroes that need to save it before time runs out. With challenging live-action puzzles and well-made tech devices throughout, this place keeps you engaged with your team to find your way out. Nick and Ashley Timber are the young couple that are doing an incredible job running this spot. Together they make a great team and present an escape room experience that you won’t have anywhere else.
Try The Pinsa Romana – Unlike so much of Oak Creek, Trattoria Di Carlo has been a staple in this community for 16 years, and for good reason. Coming from parents and grandparents of the restaurant business in Siclily, founder Carlo Pedone has grown up in this industry and has been making quality food since he was young. Bringing this experience and culture to our state, it’s no wonder why he makes some of the best Italian cuisine and pizza in Wisconsin., including Pinsa Romana, or Roman-style pizza.
Shop at Wisconsin’s first and only IKEA – If you haven’t been in it already, I’m sure you’ve at least seen it if you’ve driven down I-94 in the last year. IKEA has arrived in Wisconsin, and it’s taken up shop in Oak Creek. With over 10,000 items ranging from silverware to couches, IKEA has everything in terms of furniture and home décor. Follow the flow of customers through this world of various, inspiring room displays and if you get lost in the maze, follow the arrows and make your way to the restaurant to get some Swedish meatballs to refuel. If you have impatient children, don’t worry, there’s a place for those too; SmÃ¥land is a free supervised play area equipped with a ball pit, toys and other activities.
